I was introduced to the idea of cuddle therapy in 2013 by my mom, who sent me a news article link (that I promptly shrugged off as a viable career path, despite my intrigue). Several years ago, I first invested time into this training, though I did not pursue full certification at that time.
In the time since, I've become a small business owner, allowed myself to enter the flow of spiritual/personal growth, and learned even more how to stand in my sovereignty. The combination of empowerment and tenderness that cuddle therapy brings to those who take the journey is nothing short of magical to me.
Empowered physical touch activates our vagus nerve and soothes our amygdala from fight/flight. When we lean into this visceral lowering of our walls, we allow ourselves the vulnerability to experience our own voice and body without shame or excuse, and then transform. My own learning in areas such as polyvagal theory (in the nervous system), attachment theory (psychological/ethological), and spiritual attunement with self have amplified the call I feel toward cuddling as healing. Whether or not the science behind cuddle therapy is of interest, I am here to hold space for you.
